Independence Day in Stone Mountain, GA

Just for prosperity posterity kicks, I wanted to post pics of our recent trip to Stone Mountain, Georgia for Independence Day Weekend.  The trip far exceeded our expectations and the kids had a blast at this not-too-far-away, educational-yet-fun-for-adults getaway.

If you have yet to go to Stone Mountain Park, it is a trip you should consider adding to the list.  I had visited the park on a middle school trip back in 1998 (hahahahah) and remembered how great the enormous lawn and laser light show was.  This is a super duper place for the kids and the show (offered every night) is FREE!  We spent 5 days at the Evergreen Marriott Resort and every day was packed with fun!
The pictures tell the story pretty well and the smiles prove it.

After the skyride, we rode the train for the 5 mile trip around the base of the mountain

Ivy loved the train.  I packed treats in our cooler and this was a great time to enjoy them.

After the train ride, Ivy took a brief nap on Daddy's shoulder.

Waiting to enter the Yogi Bear 4-D movie!

The beds slept quite well.  Ivy's hair can attest.

After the duck boat, we headed to the putt putt course

After putt-putt, we went to a mini-ropes course that had a zip line

"The Barn" is a 4-story indoor activity center with nerf balls shooting everywhere.  Ivy helped return the balls.

She loved picking up the balls and putting them in the "suction tube."

An enormous breakfast buffet was included each morning

On the tour of the 1800s plantation, the kids played games that were popular in the 1800s.

In the 1800s schoolhouse, the kids sat at the teacher's desk.
They are still talking about this trip nearly three weeks later.  They love looking at the pictures and remembering all the fun we had.  Since the laser show was at night, I didn't take any pictures.  But you can check out the link at the top of this post to see more details on that.

Happy times!
